2025 CASTLE LAGER PSL STARS OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED: Simba Bhora Dominate As Season’s Finest Are Crowned
The curtain has officially come down on another gripping Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign, with the league yesterday unveiling the 2025 Soccer Stars of the Year, a star studded Best XI that reflects both consistency and the shifting power dynamics of Zimbabwean football.
In a ceremony characterised by suspense and celebration, Simba Bhora emerged as the night’s biggest winners, supplying three players to the elite cast. Goalkeeper Isheanesu Mauchi, centre back Emmanuel Ziocha, and the dependable William Thole were all rewarded for their commanding performances that anchored the Shamva outfit’s impressive season.
Scottland, the surprise package of 2025, also had double representation through defenders Tymon Machope and Kevin Moyo, whose disciplined, rugged displays turned the club into one of the league’s most uncomfortable teams to break down.
From the high energy, fast rising MWOS side came two standout midfielders Aboubakar Moffat and Billy Veremu, both recognised for their work rate, technical quality and the influence they had in transforming the club’s identity this year.
Veteran defender Andrew Mbeba flew the Highlanders flag high following a season of commanding leadership at the back, while Emmanuel Jalai was the lone representative from Dynamos, rewarded for his consistency and defensive maturity in an otherwise turbulent campaign for the Glamour Boys.
TelOne forward Washington Navaya, one of the most clinical finishers of the season, slotted comfortably into the Best XI after spearheading his team’s survival and occasional giant-killing acts.
Completing the cast was Jarrison Selemani of FC Platinum, a player whose calm presence and tactical intelligence made him one of the most trusted figures in Norman Mapeza’s system.
The selection panel comprising journalists, coaches and analysts earned praise for a thorough and balanced process that placed performance above reputation. Their decisions highlighted emerging talent, rewarded consistency, and acknowledged the clubs that have redefined the league’s competitive landscape.
This year’s Best XI is more than just a list. It is a snapshot of a season marked by tactical evolution, surprise contenders and the rise of new heroes. It celebrates players who not only delivered moments of brilliance, but also carried their teams through pressure, adversity and defining matches.
As the league looks ahead to 2026, this group stands tall as the standard bearers, the footballers whose discipline, leadership and week in, week out excellence shaped the story of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
