A 45-year-old sports director at Allan Wilson Boys High School, Innocent Kashiri, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated indecent assault involving a 17-year-old student.
Harare regional magistrate Jessie Kufa found Kashiri guilty following evidence presented by the State, led by Ms Shiela Mpindu.
Kashiri, who was residing at the school cottages, committed the offence in 2023 at an office at Allan Wilson Boys High School.
The court heard that Kashiri allegedly produced a letter purportedly written by the school headmaster, Tafara Zhou, which appeared to authorise him to engage in anal sexual intercourse with the student.
The student, who was reportedly intimidated by Kashiri, complied with his demands and was sodomised once.
The matter later came to light after the student confided in his science teacher, Susan Sibanda.
The teacher advised the student to report the matter to the police, resulting in a police report being made on June 19, 2026.
Kashiri was subsequently prosecuted and convicted, leading to the 20-year prison sentence.
