The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have confirmed the arrest of a man suspected of murder, attempted murder and rape following an intensive manhunt in Guruve that ended with a joint security operation.

In a press statement dated 3 January 2026, police said Anymore Zvitsva (32) was apprehended after a coordinated operation involving the ZRP and the Zimbabwe National Army. The suspect had been on the run, prompting heightened security efforts in and around the Guruve area.

According to police, Zvitsva was shot in the left leg during the arrest while hiding in a garden. Authorities said the use of force occurred during efforts to subdue the suspect and prevent his escape. He was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard.

The ZRP described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the case and praised the Guruve community and Zimbabweans at large for their cooperation and assistance throughout what was termed a comprehensive manhunt.

“Public support played a key role in the successful conclusion of this operation,” police said, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring community safety and bringing suspects of serious crimes to justice.

Police indicated that full details of the charges facing Zvitsva, as well as information regarding his court appearance, will be released in due course.
