Life Jail Term for Gokwe Killer

A Gokwe man, Blessed Nyashadzashe Mapulani (23), has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the High Court of Zimbabwe sitting at Gokwe for the murd@r of Joel Manyevere (82).

According to a statement issued by NPA, Blessed Nyashadzashe Mapulani, 23 sentenced to life in prison for the murd@r of Joel Manyevere, 82.

“On 29 August 2025, the offender who lived with the deceased, attacked the now deceased with an axe, striking him once on the chest, twice on the neck, and once on the shoulder. The victim was then buried in a shallow grave near the homestead,” said the NPA statement.

Neighbours raised the alarm when they realized that he was missing and noticed blood stains around his home, leading to a police investigation.

“Officers from ZRP Manoti recovered the body in a shallow grave about 800 metres from the homestead, as well as the murd@r weapon. A post-mortem conducted at United Bulawayo Hospitals confirmed that death was due to acute cardiorespiratory failure, cervical spinal cord injury, and cervical spine fracture,” the NPA added.

Mapulani was sentenced to life in prison for the murd@r of Joel Manyevere, and the court ruled that the heinous and senseless attack on a defenceless elderly man warranted the ultimate punishment of life imprisonment.
