Madzibaba Enock Senda Calls for Indigenous Churches Museum to Boost Tourism
In a passionate plea that resonates with Zimbabwe’s spiritual landscape, Madzibaba Enock Senda, the Deputy Chairman of DCC 2 and leader of Nyenyedzinomwe 4ED, has urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to consider establishing a museum dedicated to indigenous churches.
Speaking during the launch of Masowe 4ED, a ZANU PF affiliate, Senda emphasized the immense potential of such a museum to enhance tourism and celebrate the nation’s rich spiritual heritage.
“Imagine if we had a museum where the history and stories of our indigenous churches and their leaders were preserved and celebrated,” said Madzibaba Enock Senda.
He said showcasing the unique spiritual traditions of Zimbabwe could attract tourists from all over the globe, generating both interest and revenue.
“Israel rakes in trillions with religious tourism. Why can’t we do the same?” said Madzibaba Enock Senda.
The envisioned museum would focus on showcasing prominent indigenous church leaders, including revered figures like Madzibaba Johane, Madzibaba Wimbo, Baba Guti, Baba Mwazha, and Baba Mutendi.
“These are our spiritual heroes, and their stories deserve to be told and celebrated,” he said.
Madzibaba Enock Senda also proposed the establishment of a ministerial portfolio dedicated exclusively to religious affairs. “Approximately 80 percent of Zimbabweans are churchgoers, making this a significant constituency.
A dedicated minister would facilitate better engagement with the country’s deeply religious community, ensuring that their voices are heard in national policy and development,” he said.
The proposal has garnered positive reactions from church leaders and politicians alike. ZANU PF officials, including Harare Province Chairman Cde Goodwills Masimirembwa, have expressed their support, recognizing the potential impact of such initiatives on national development and unity.
As Zimbabwe strives toward Vision 2030, initiatives like the proposed museum may hold the key to promoting cultural heritage and enhancing national pride. By embracing its spiritual legacy, the country could not only boost tourism but also foster a sense of collective identity among its citizens.
Madzibaba Enock Senda’s leadership demonstrates a commitment to ZANU PF’s vision and values, reflecting his desire to create a space where Zimbabwe’s spiritual heritage can thrive. His appeal to President Mnangagwa calls for a broader initiative to mobilise support for both tourism and the cultural identity of Zimbabwe.
