Warriors head coach Marian “Mario” Marinica has confirmed that midfielder Marshall Munetsi remains part of Zimbabwe’s national team plans, revealing that efforts are underway to facilitate the player’s return to the squad.

Speaking in an interview with The Herald, Marinica said the national team remains open to welcoming back the influential midfielder, describing him as a key figure for Zimbabwe’s future assignments.

“Marshall remains a very important player for the national team. As a coach, I will always want the best Zimbabwean players to be available, and Marshall is certainly one of them,” said Marinica.

The coach disclosed that steps are being taken to resolve outstanding issues, including plans for a meeting aimed at restoring understanding between the player and the national team setup.

“In the spirit of clarity and unity, we have requested a meeting with Marshall Munetsi so that we can sit down, speak openly and get to the bottom of any misunderstandings,” he said. “These matters are best handled through direct, respectful and honest communication.”

Marinica stressed that unity and national interest must take precedence as the Warriors continue preparations for upcoming international commitments.

“My message is simple — my door is always open,” he said. “The national team belongs to all Zimbabweans, and every player who is committed to representing the country will always be welcomed.”

Munetsi, one of Zimbabwe’s most experienced midfielders playing abroad, has been absent from recent national team engagements, prompting speculation over his international future.

Marinica’s remarks signal a possible reconciliation as the Warriors seek to assemble their strongest squad moving forward, with the coach prioritising dialogue and cohesion within the team.
