ZANU PF Mashonaland East Provincial Chairman, Cde Daniel Garwe, has fired a stark warning to complacent legislators and land barons, as the province adopted explosive resolutions demanding President Emmerson Mnangagwa remain party First Secretary and Head of State until 2030, while barring any internal party elections before that date.
Addressing the Provincial Inter-District meeting at Goromonzi High School on Saturday, Cde Garwe struck a combative tone, ordering Members of Parliament to remain accountable to their constituencies.
“Never relax,” Cde Garwe thundered, insisting MPs must remain visible and serve the people who elected them.
In a direct assault on illegal land dealings, Cde Garwe vowed to crack down on perpetrators.
“The law will be enforced against land barons and individuals involved in illegal land dealings, commonly referred to as ‘sabhuku deals.'”
Cde Garwe also set a provincial fundraising target of USD 70 000 for the upcoming 2026 Annual People’s Conference in Chinhoyi, urging members to honour their pledges and contribute towards strengthening the party.
The hardline resolutions, agreed upon by all nine districts in the province, will be forwarded to the national conference without alteration, according to the provincial leadership.
Provincial Secretary for Legal Affairs, Cde Pension Chiutsi, confirmed the province also resolved that the ZANU PF Constitution must be aligned with the Constitution of Zimbabwe following recent constitutional amendments, while the economy and the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency received formal backing from the thematic committees.
The provincial leadership concluded that all focus must now remain on strengthening the party and advancing national development in line with the Government’s development agenda.
