Zimbabwe’s tourism sector continues to gain global prominence under the visionary leadership of the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Barbara Rwodzi, whose participation at the World Government Summit Roundtable on the Future of Tourism in Dubai marked another major milestone for the country.
Positioning Zimbabwe at the forefront of global tourism transformation, Hon Rwodzi was a key panelist at the high-level roundtable, which brought together international policymakers, investors, and tourism leaders to deliberate on emerging trends, sustainability imperatives, and strategic investment opportunities shaping the future of the global tourism industry.
During the discussions, Minister Rwodzi confidently showcased Zimbabwe as a premier tourism destination endowed with rich cultural heritage, breathtaking natural wonders, world-class safari experiences, and warm, welcoming people.
She highlighted the country’s growing international recognition, including positive coverage by Forbes Magazine, as evidence that Zimbabwe’s tourism brand is steadily reclaiming its rightful place on the world map.
“The strong policy and institutional framework guiding Zimbabwe’s tourism development is anchored on the Second Republic’s forward-looking tourism policies, strategies, and investment models under the leadership of His Excellency President Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.
Guided by the enduring principle that Zimbabwe is a Friend to All and an Enemy to None, the country remains open to partnerships and global collaboration,” Minister Rwodzi stated.
Acknowledging the critical role played by UN Tourism in supporting Zimbabwe’s tourism growth, the Minister called for increased investment in high-end and luxury tourism infrastructure to meet rising global demand.
“Developments such as the ongoing construction of the multi-purpose International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls are a symbol of Zimbabwe’s commitment to diversifying its tourism offering and positioning the destination as a global events hub.
Zimbabwe’s readiness to host the UN Tourism Committee on Tourism and Sustainability from 27 to 28 April 2026 is a move that reflects the country’s dedication to inclusive, resilient, and future-focused tourism development,” she added.
Her engagement at the World Government Summit not only elevated Zimbabwe’s profile but also reinforced her growing reputation as a dynamic and results-driven tourism leader. Through strategic diplomacy, bold advocacy, and a clear vision for sustainable growth, Minister Barbara Rwodzi continues to play a pivotal role in transforming Zimbabwe’s tourism sector into a globally competitive and investment-ready industry.
