Two very dangerous criminals, one of them serving a life sentence for murder, have escaped from Mutimurefu Prison in Masvingo today.
Tafadzwa Janyure Zimirenyika(27) who was serving life in jail for many felonies including murder,rape and armed robbery escaped from the prison together with James Masunda(34).
Masunda was serving 27 years for cases including rape and armed robbery.
It could not be established how exactly the duo skipped prison but National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the two criminals escaped today early morning.
Commissioner Nyathi added that Zimirenyika was also linked to 203 other cases involving muder,armed robbery and rape and was awaiting trial when he escaped.
“The two escaped today early in the morning and we have launched a manhunt for them,”said Commissioner Nyathi.
“The criminals should be treated as very dangerous people and anyone with information about their whereabouts should inform the nearest police station.”
