Construction of the International Multi-Purpose Cricket Stadium at Lot 1, Jafuta Estate in Victoria Falls is progressing steadily, marking a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s preparations to host matches during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The project, which forms part of a broader sports tourism infrastructure drive, is expected to transform the resort city into a major destination for international sporting events.

The Secretary for Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Dr Takaruza Munyanyiwa, recently toured the construction site and expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far. He highlighted the stadium’s strategic role in strengthening Zimbabwe’s competitiveness as a global tourism destination by enhancing its capacity to host high-value international events, while also stimulating domestic tourism.

Once completed, the world-class facility is expected to boost tourist arrivals, improve hotel occupancy rates, and attract investment in supporting infrastructure. The development is also anticipated to raise the international profile of Victoria Falls, contributing to the growth of Zimbabwe’s tourism sector in line with Vision 2030.

The stadium stands as a key pillar in positioning Zimbabwe to capitalise on sports tourism opportunities while showcasing the country’s readiness to host major global events.
