Public Consultations on Road Accident Fund Bill Begin in Bulawayo
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, in partnership with the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) and the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA), has begun nationwide public consultations on the proposed Road Accident Fund (RAF) Bill.
The first meeting took place at the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel.
The Road Accident Fund Bill seeks to improve how Zimbabwe responds to road traffic accidents and to provide better assistance to victims and their families.
The fund is expected to ease the financial burden caused by accidents and promote a fairer system of compensation.
Officials said the consultations are an important step in shaping a system that truly serves the needs of Zimbabweans. Members of the public, transport operators, and other stakeholders are being encouraged to share their views and experiences.
“This is your opportunity to help design a system that is fair, efficient, and truly Zimbabwean,” the ministry said in a statement. “Together, we can build a safer and more caring future for all road users.”
Public consultations will continue across the country in the coming weeks as part of efforts to make Zimbabwe’s roads safer and more inclusive.
