In a significant demonstration of grassroots mobilisation and organisational renewal, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Masvingo Province, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira, presided over the ZANU PF National Cell Day engagements across the province.

The events, held on 31 January 2026, marked a pivotal moment in the ruling party’s strategy to strengthen its foundational structures and enhance direct communication between leadership and the electorate.

Minister Chadzamira’s participation was headlined by his visit to Diso Compound in Mashava, Ward 5 of Masvingo West, where he joined local party members in a rigorous cell verification process.

This exercise forms part of a broader national initiative aimed at ensuring the integrity of the party’s membership database and fostering a sense of belonging among the rank and file.

During his address to the gathered members, Honourable Chadzamira emphasised a paradigm shift in the party’s operational philosophy. He advocated for a move away from “armchair leadership,” urging officials to immerse themselves in the communities they serve.

This rejuvenated engagement, he said, is designed to ensure that the party remains responsive to the immediate needs and aspirations of the people.

“The strength of ZANU PF lies in its cells. We are here to listen, to verify, and to ensure that every member is accounted for and heard. Our leadership must be felt on the ground, not just in offices,” Minister Chadzamira remarked during the Mashava engagement.

Honourable Chadzamira noted that National Cell Day is not merely a procedural requirement but a strategic tool for grassroots empowerment.

By engaging directly with party cells, the leadership seeks to identify local challenges and integrate them into the provincial development agenda, particularly as the nation transitions into the critical years of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

The engagements across Masvingo Province focused on several key thematic areas, including:

-Area description and strategic objectives
Membership verification, auditing, and updating of cell registers to ensure accurate data

-Organisational integrity and grassroots feedback, through the collection of first-hand reports on community needs and local grievances

-Responsive governance, unity, and mobilisation, reinforcing party ideology and preparing for future electoral cycles

-Political stability and development alignment, linking local cell activities to provincial and national development goals under NDS2

Minister Chadzamira’s provincial tour also reinforced the connection between party activities and the government’s broader economic objectives. He highlighted that a rejuvenated ZANU PF is essential for the successful implementation of Vision 2030, which aims to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy.

In Masvingo Province, this vision translates into a strong focus on irrigation development, mining revitalisation in areas such as Mashava, and the completion of key infrastructure projects.

The Minister’s presence at Diso Compound a community historically linked to the mining sector underscored the government’s commitment to revitalising industrial hubs through political and social stability.

The National Cell Day in Masvingo Province, led by Honourable Ezra Chadzamira, has set a renewed tone for political engagement in the region. By prioritising the cell as the heartbeat of the party, the leadership has signalled a commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous dialogue.

As the province moves forward, this emphasis on rejuvenated grassroots engagement is expected to play a critical role in sustaining the party’s dominance and ensuring the effective delivery of developmental promises to the people of Masvingo.
