Scottland Fail to Capitalise as Hardrock Hold Mapeza’s Men
Norman Mapeza has expressed disappointment after his side Scottland FC failed to convert several scoring chances in their goalless draw against Hardrock FC in their opening match of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
The Matchday One encounter was played at the newly built Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking after the match, Mapeza said his team created enough opportunities to secure victory but could not apply the finishing touch.
“We had a number of good chances during the match and if we had converted them the result could have been different,” said Mapeza.
The experienced coach also pointed to the difficult playing surface as one of the challenges his players faced during the game.
“The pitch was quite heavy because of the rains and it was muddy, which made it difficult for the players. However, I cannot fault the effort from the boys because they worked extremely hard,” he added.
Despite the draw, Mapeza remained positive, highlighting his side’s ability to create scoring opportunities.
“I’m happy with the way we managed to create chances. Now we shift our focus to the next game.”
Scottland will now turn their attention to their upcoming league clash against Ngezi Platinum Stars FC next weekend.
