The monthly programme, introduced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa as part of the Government’s drive to promote environmental sustainability, public health and responsible citizenship, has become one of the flagship initiatives supporting the country’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and Vision 2030.

Led by Regional Manager Ms. Yvonne Kuka, the NetOne team partnered with the Bindura Town Council, represented by Director of Health Mr. Chinovaita, Herentials College, local businesses and community members in cleaning sections of the mining town.

The campaign highlighted the growing collaboration between Government institutions, local authorities and the private sector in advancing the national vision of building clean, safe and sustainable communities.

Speaking during the exercise, Ms. Kuka said the initiative demonstrates the importance of collective action in supporting the country’s development agenda.

“The Mega National Clean-Up Campaign is more than a monthly exercise—it is a national movement that reminds us all that safeguarding our environment is everyone’s responsibility. NetOne is proud to partner with the Bindura Town Council, businesses and other stakeholders in creating cleaner, safer and healthier communities,” she said.

“Together, we are contributing to the national vision of sustainable development while building a better Zimbabwe for generations to come.”

The clean-up exercise comes at a time when Bindura, one of Mashonaland Central Province’s key mining and commercial centres, continues to experience growth in business activity and urban expansion, increasing the importance of environmental management and proper waste disposal.

Residents who participated in the campaign welcomed the continued involvement of corporate organisations, saying partnerships between Government, local authorities and the private sector were critical in maintaining clean communities.

Director of Health for Bindura Town Council, Mr. Chinovaita, said stakeholder participation was essential in achieving the objectives of the national clean-up programme and promoting environmental consciousness among residents.

The monthly clean-up campaign, which is observed on the first Friday of every month, has become one of the defining programmes of the Second Republic, reflecting Government’s commitment to environmental protection, improved public health and sustainable urban development.

For NetOne, the exercise also forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, which prioritises environmental sustainability and community development.

As Zimbabwe’s leading digital solutions provider, NetOne continues to align its operations with national development priorities through initiatives that improve the quality of life in communities while supporting the attainment of Vision 2030.

The participation of companies such as NetOne in the Bindura clean-up campaign demonstrates the growing role of the private sector in complementing Government efforts to build a cleaner, greener and more prosperous Zimbabwe under the leadership of President Mnangagwa.

With communities, local authorities and businesses working together, the monthly programme continues to reinforce the President’s call for every Zimbabwean to take responsibility for protecting the environment and safeguarding the nation’s future.
