A lustful Hwange man who went on a sexual assault spree against his cousin-in-law (36) in the dead of the night on two separate occasions will rue his lack of empathy as he will spend the next 19 years behind bars.
After committing these heinous acts, the sexual offender tried to gag his victim by offering her “sugar beans.”
Court records stated after the victim reported the matter to her husband, he ordered the victim no to report the abuse to the police because his young brother will be arrested.
NPA said the offender (39) from Musuna area has been sentenced to an effective 19 years in prison by the Hwange Regional Court after being convicted on charges of indecent assault and aggravated indecent assault.
“The court found him guilty of preying on his cousin‑in‑law while she slept.
“The offender terrorised the complainant on two separate occasions at her homestead in Breamland Gardens.
“The first incident occurred on the 31 August, 2025, at around 2200 hours.”
NPA said the offender entered the complainant’s mosquito net while she was sleeping facing downwards.
“He hugged her from behind and began caressing her body. “When the complainant woke up and confronted him, the offender fled the scene, bizarrely promising her “sugar beans” as payment for her silence,” said NPA.
Emboldened by the silence, the offender returned two days later on the 2 September, 2025, at around 2300 hours.
“He again slipped under the complainant’s mosquito net and slept behind her. He forcibly grabbed her hands and inserted his finger into her private parts.
“Upon realizing the complainant was menstruating, the offender stopped and pleaded for forgiveness. He again offered beans as payment and asked the complainant to sweep away his footprints to hide evidence of his presence.”
NPA said following the second attack, the complainant refused to remain silent.
“On Count 1 (12 Months Imprisonment), Count 2 (Aggravated Indecent Assault), 18 Years Imprisonment.”
