Two Zimbabwean Brothers Abducted and Killed in Phillipi, Cape Town
Two Zimbabwean brothers who had been living and working in Cape Town were found dead in Phillipi after being abducted by armed men on Tuesday evening.
The victims, identified as Donald, the elder brother who worked as an e-hailing driver and part-time mechanic, and his 25 year old younger brother Nowell, had been staying in Zola informal settlement in Strand. Nowell had only recently arrived in South Africa, just a few weeks before the tragic incident.
According to reports, the pair had just returned home from work when two armed suspects confronted Donald as he drove into their yard. An altercation ensued, prompting Nowell to intervene in an attempt to protect his brother. The attackers then drew firearms, overpowered the siblings and forced them into their own vehicle before speeding off.
The car was later discovered abandoned in Phillipi, where authorities confirmed that both brothers had been killed.
Family members say they are shattered by the loss and are struggling to understand why the two were targeted, describing Donald as a quiet, humble man who kept to himself.
Police in Cape Town have launched investigations into the murders, and no arrests had been made at the time of publication.
