VP Chiwenga Reaffirms Zimbabwe’s Commitment To Stronger China Ties

Vice President General (Retired) Dr. C.G.D.N. Chiwenga has reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with China as the two countries continue to deepen their long-standing relations.

Vice President Chiwenga was speaking at the official opening of the China International Fair for Trade in Services, which is being held from 9 to 13 September.

The event has attracted participants from 90 countries.

Chiwenga said Zimbabwe was ready to work with international partners to establish mutually beneficial partnerships and sustainable businesses.

He said such partnerships should help create high-value jobs, promote technology transfer, develop skills, improve logistics services and support Zimbabwe’s economic transformation.

During his visit, Vice President Chiwenga also held a courtesy meeting with China’s Vice Premier, Ding Xuexiang.

The discussions focused on strengthening relations between Zimbabwe and China, which date back to the period of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.

The two countries have maintained close relations since independence, with cooperation extending to areas including trade, investment, infrastructure, education and technology.
