A Harare woman has appeared in court accused of biting her husband’s testicle during a domestic dispute reportedly triggered by suspicions of infidelity.

Sharlene Rutendo Munenga, 29, was remanded in custody until September 16 for bail considerations after the State alleged that the incident left her 33-year-old husband injured and in need of hospital treatment.

The incident allegedly occurred at the couple’s home in Dzivarasekwa 2 last Wednesday at around 9.30am.

Prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawo told the court that Munenga confronted her husband after allegedly suspecting that he was having an affair.

The State alleges that the confrontation became heated after the couple exchanged words, eventually turning into a physical altercation.

During the alleged fight, Munenga is accused of biting her husband on the testicle, causing injuries that required him to seek medical attention at a hospital.

The prosecution is expected to rely on a medical affidavit detailing the injuries allegedly sustained by the complainant.

Munenga was arrested following the incident and spent the weekend in custody.

She remains in custody pending the bail hearing scheduled for September 16.

The allegations are yet to be tested in court, and Munenga is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
