South Africa has appointed Zimbabwean performance analyst Tinashe Shingai Mukandatsama to its technical team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, strengthening Bafana Bafana’s backroom ahead of the continental tournament.

Mukandatsama, 32, was confirmed this week as one of the national team’s performance analysts. His appointment comes as South Africa intensifies preparations for the 2025 Nations Cup, where analytical support has become crucial for match planning and opposition profiling.

Currently serving as a performance analyst at Mamelodi Sundowns, Mukandatsama brings extensive experience from both club and national team setups. He previously worked with South Africa’s Under-20 side, Amajita, where he contributed to youth development and international competitions.

Before joining Sundowns, he also served as a tactical analyst for Sekhukhune United, including during their CAF Champions League campaign, adding continental exposure to his growing résumé.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) says Mukandatsama’s expertise will enhance Bafana Bafana’s technical capacity as the team aims for a strong Nations Cup showing. His appointment also highlights the increasing recognition of Zimbabwean talent in regional football structures.
