Zimbabwe Presents Golden Emblem Of Unity At APPN General Assembly

The 5th General Assembly of the African Public Procurement Network (APPN) opened with a powerful gesture of symbolism and solidarity as APPN President and PRAZ CEO, Dr. Clever Ruswa, unveiled “The Symbol of Our Convening”, a golden trophy and chain of office donated by the Republic of Zimbabwe.

The emblem, crafted with a gold forged map of Africa encircled by the flags of all member states, stands as a reflection of the continent’s shared commitment to innovation, inclusion, sustainability, and regional collaboration in public procurement.

In an inspiring presentation, Dr. Ruswa said the emblem is not just a symbol, but a mirror of unity and a beacon guiding Africa’s collective mission to transform procurement systems for the greater good.

The symbol was officially handed over to APPN Secretary General Aftar Toure Morou, who will place it before each General Assembly to signify that the network’s supreme governing body is in session. The accompanying chain of office will be worn by the sitting chairperson and passed on from one leader to the next, representing continuity, integrity, and Pan-African leadership.

As the new emblem took its place at the heart of the gathering, delegates hailed it as a proud reminder that Africa’s transformation in public procurement must be anchored in cooperation, transparency, and shared purpose.
