Zimbabwe Strikes Gold at Global Honey Tasting
Zimbabwe’s organic honey has earned international recognition after being named the top favourite at the 2025 International Beekeepers’ Conference, where it outperformed more than 50 honey varieties from around the world.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade confirmed that Zimbabwean honey emerged as the leading choice in a blind tasting session conducted by experienced beekeepers at the 2025 global event.
Judges praised the honey for its rich flavour, natural profile, and exceptional quality, describing it as the best sampled on the day.

The low-veld litchi honey variety was singled out for special acclaim, receiving unanimous praise for its purity and distinctive taste, according to the ministry.
The recognition highlights growing global demand for Zimbabwe’s organic agricultural products. The honey is harvested from pristine, unspoiled environments and produced using sustainable, chemical-free methods, reflecting the country’s biodiversity and commitment to natural production practices.
“As global consumers increasingly seek trustworthy, organic options, Zimbabwe’s offerings are not just competing — they are leading,” the ministry said in an official statement.
The achievement underscores the potential for Zimbabwe’s apiculture sector to expand into new export markets, building on the country’s reputation for high-quality organic produce.
The success comes amid broader government efforts to promote local products internationally under initiatives such as #MadeInZimbabwe and #ZimToTheWorld.
