MIDLANDS STATE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS RAVAGED BY FIRE: Students Left Devastated

A devastating fire swept through the Diamond Ladies residence at Midlands State University’s Zvishavane campus yesterday evening, leaving a trail of destruction and despair. The blaze, which started around 9:30 pm, engulfed the entire block, reducing it to ashes.
The rapid spread of the fire was attributed to the wooden board divisions between rooms, which failed to contain the flames. One female student was injured while attempting to salvage her laptop and is currently receiving medical attention.
Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene as students frantically tried to evacuate the premises. “It was like a nightmare,We were all in shock, watching our home burn down,” said one student. The cause of the fire remains unknown, but preliminary investigations suggest an electrical element may have sparked the blaze.
Students affected by the fire have lost everything, including vital documents, clothing, and personal belongings. “I lost my certificates, money, clothes… everything, I don’t know how I’ll recover from this,”said a distraught student. University officials have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to provide support to affected students.
The fire has raised concerns about campus safety and emergency preparedness. Students are calling for improved measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The university has promised to provide temporary accommodations and essential items to those affected.
