Victory, Unity, Support For Sables
Zimbabwe’s national rugby team, the Sables, has earned a major boost from the private sector, with Discovery Ambulance Service announcing a full emergency medical support package for the team.
Discovery CEO David Munowenyu announced that the company will provide free emergency medical coverage and Discovery membership to all players who featured in the historic win.
The game marks the first time in several years that Zimbabwe has defeated Namibia, reigniting the country’s Rugby World Cup hopes.
“This isn’t just a rugby win. It’s a moment of national pride,” said Munowenyu.
“As Discovery Ambulance Service, we’re committing our full support to the Sables, on the ground, in the air, wherever they go.
These young men are carrying the hopes of a nation, and we’ll be right there with them.”
DISCOVERY’S COMMITMENT INCLUDES:
-Free medical emergency response coverage for all winning players
-Free Discovery membership for each squad member who played in the Namibia match
-Deployment of a dedicated medical team to Australia for the next stage of the Rugby World Cup
-CEO David Munowenyu to personally travel with the team- to provide leadership, visibility, and morale support.
“We are not sending a logo to the World Cup—we are sending people,” Munowenyu added.
“I will personally travel to Australia with our medical professionals. The Sables are no longer just a team—they are Zimbabwe’s flagbearers on the world stage.”
The Sables’ triumph is seen as a pivotal turning point in Zimbabwean rugby, and for many fans, a symbolic resurgence of national sporting pride.
Discovery Ambulance Service is one of the first major companies to step forward with meaningful, tangible support.
“This marks the beginning of a great rugby nation,” Munowenyu said.
“Zimbabwe is back, and the world needs to take notice.”
