Race for PSL and ZWSL Leadership Heats Up
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the Zimbabwe Women’s Super League (ZWSL) are scheduled to hold executive elections today in Harare, with supervision from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).
These elections represent a major milestone for both leagues, which have been operating under interim leadership for several months. The PSL has been without a chairperson since Farai Jere stepped down in 2024.
Four contenders are competing for the top post in the PSL: Dumisani Sisale (FC Platinum), Masimba Chihowa (Manica Diamonds), Leonard Musariri (Ngezi Platinum), and Isiah Mupfurutsa (Simba Bhora).
Meanwhile, the ZWSL will see a two-way race for the chairperson seat between Chido Chizondo of Platinum Royals and Thokoziso Moyo of Black Rhinos Queens.
The ZWSL has been managed by a temporary committee put in place by the ZIFA Normalisation Committee, following the dismissal of the previous executive led by Barbara Chikosi, who faced allegations of poor governance.
