Chief Tandi’s Village in Shock After Dog Discovers Human Skull
Sekuru Robert Kanyuchi (84) of Sirewo Village under Chief Tandi was left frozen in horror when his dog trotted up to him and dropped a human skull at his feet.
Before he could comprehend the nightmare unfolding before him, the dog vanished again only to return with another human bone.
The bones belonged to Akim Nyanga Murembeni, a respected 80-year-old villager who vanished without a trace on June 16. His disappearance had baffled the community until the dog exposed a grim truth.
His granddaughter, Esma Matewa (50), immediately identified the skull as her grandfather’s. A full community search ensued, following the dog’s trail, leading them to a gruesome scene in the nearby bush Murembeni’s decomposed remains lying scattered and forgotten.
The remains were later transported to Rusape General Hospital for a post-mortem.
Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, Acting Police Spokesperson for Manicaland, confirmed the disturbing discovery:
“Murembeni left home on June 16 and never returned. His family filed a missing person report on June 23. On August 16, a local dog brought home a human skull, which was later identified by his granddaughter. The remains were found in a decomposed state and investigations are underway.”
Police are treating the case with urgency as they attempt to piece together what happened to Murembeni.
Residents said they have never seen anything like this, and many are struggling to come to terms with how the mystery of Murembeni’s disappearance ended in such a haunting way.
