Zimbabwe Agricultural Show Opens with Record Number of Exhibitors
Harare plays host to the 115th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS), which begins today, August 25, amid a notable rise in exhibitor participation.
Running under the theme “Building Bridges: Connecting Agriculture, Industry and Communities,” this year’s edition will continue through Saturday and has already seen a significant increase in interest. The number of exhibitors has surged from 430 in the previous year to 505 in 2025.
Organisers report that over 79,500 square metres of the total 86,500 square metres of exhibition space have been booked, with expectations that additional late entries could bring the number of exhibitors to as high as 580.
ZAS Chief Executive Officer Rufaro Alfred Gunundu expressed confidence in the preparations, saying the event is set to be a resounding success.
“We’re anticipating a very successful show this year. The planning has gone smoothly, and we are encouraged by the growing number of exhibitors. This event continues to serve as a vital platform to highlight agricultural progress in Zimbabwe, and to discuss both opportunities and industry challenges,” Gunundu said in comments to state media.
Twelve international exhibitors from countries such as Pakistan, Nigeria, Brazil, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, India, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia are also taking part.
As of Sunday night into Monday morning, final preparations were underway at several stands — including those of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS), which is showcasing its agricultural initiatives from prison-run farms.
Excitement around the event is building as farmers from across the country prepare to display their best produce. According to Gunundu, this year’s agri-produce competitions have drawn 1,636 entries from 112 farmers.
Another key feature of this year’s event is a focus on business-to-business engagements, with several high-level forums planned.
The show begins today with a schools quiz competition, followed by a business conference and exhibitors’ cocktail party on Tuesday. Thursday will feature a media awards ceremony and an indaba on agricultural excellence, while Friday will see the official opening and prize-giving ceremony at Glamis Arena. The festivities will conclude Saturday night with a music concert and fireworks display.
This year also marks a milestone as ZAS celebrates 130 years since its inception, adding a special significance to the 2025 showcase.
