Whisky and Brandy Worth Thousands Stolen in Highfield Break-In
A man allegedly broke into a wholesale outlet at Machipisa Shopping Centre, making off with hundreds of bottles of whisky and brandy.
The intruder reportedly accessed the shop by removing part of the roof before stealing 60 bottles of 750ml Two Keys whisky, 384 bottles of 200ml Two Keys whisky, and 12 bottles of 750ml Viceroy brandy. In total, 444 bottles of alcohol were taken.
According to Mega Save Wholesalers general manager Takudzwa Makoni, CCTV footage later revealed how the suspect gained entry. The footage showed the thief wearing a face mask.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident, noting that the exact value of the stolen liquor was still being calculated.
“Police are investigating a case of unlawful entry and theft at a wholesale shop in Highfield,” Insp Chakanza said.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a company in Msasa was raided by burglars who escaped with US$14,600 in cash.
