Zimbabwe’s telecommunications sector experienced notable progress in the second quarter of 2025, with NetOne emerging as a major force in driving the country’s digital transformation.

Under the leadership of Group CEO Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, the company adopted a focused strategy centered on network expansion and improved customer experience.

At the heart of NetOne’s Q2 agenda was a large-scale upgrade of its infrastructure. The company rolled out 224 new LTE base stations, marking a major step toward faster, more reliable internet access for its subscribers.

Complementing this effort, NetOne deployed 108 additional 3G sites to improve connectivity in both urban and rural areas, bolstered its legacy network with five extra 2G stations, and invested in 5G readiness projects to prepare for the next generation of mobile technology.

Engineer Mushanawani stressed that these upgrades were driven by customer needs. “Our investment program is designed to respond directly to the rising demand for reliable connectivity,” he said. “We are committed to expanding access and providing high-speed internet that supports digital inclusion across the nation.”

The company’s efforts have already produced positive results. NetOne reported a 2.73% rise in voice traffic, with total minutes climbing to 521,361,797 in Q2. Its mobile voice market share grew by 0.28 percentage points, reaching 12.37%, while active mobile subscriptions increased by 0.22% to a total of 3,987,105 customers.

These achievements reflect NetOne’s disciplined growth strategy, which places network reliability at the center of its competitive edge. By channeling significant resources into infrastructure, the company is not only improving service delivery but also strengthening its position within Zimbabwe’s telecom market.

With these developments, NetOne is cementing its role as a key enabler of nationwide connectivity and a catalyst for the country’s ongoing digital transformation.
