HARARE – ZANU-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Christopher Mutsvangwa, has dismissed speculation surrounding Zimbabwe’s leadership beyond 2028, stating that there is currently no vacancy at State House and urging those with presidential ambitions to be patient.
Addressing the media at the party’s headquarters in Harare, Mutsvangwa said President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa continues to enjoy strong support from Zimbabweans, pointing to the development milestones achieved under the Second Republic.
He highlighted progress in infrastructure development, economic transformation, agricultural expansion, industrialisation, and social programmes aimed at improving the welfare of citizens as evidence of the administration’s impact.
Mutsvangwa said engagements with communities across the country have shown that many Zimbabweans remain supportive of President Mnangagwa’s leadership and the policies being pursued by his government.
“The people have spoken through various platforms and engagements. Their message is clear: President Mnangagwa’s leadership remains central to Zimbabwe’s development trajectory, and he must continue,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
His remarks come at a time when debate over Zimbabwe’s political future beyond 2028 has intensified in some quarters.
However, ZANU-PF insists that attention should remain focused on advancing the President’s development agenda and ensuring the successful implementation of programmes designed to drive economic growth and improve living standards.
Party leaders argue that achievements recorded under the Second Republic, including infrastructure expansion, increased investment inflows, improved agricultural output, and ongoing economic reforms, have reinforced public confidence in President Mnangagwa’s vision and leadership.
