Read E-PaperMadzibaba Chipaga of Enterprise Car Sales said the dealership was on good terms with the Chivayo family and was waiting for the legal process to be completed before the outstanding issues could be resolved.
In an exclusive interview, Chipaga dismissed speculation that car dealers were moving to repossess vehicles gifted by the late businessman over unpaid invoices.
“This is a great family and we know everything will be sorted out,” he said.
Chipaga confirmed that some invoices remained outstanding when Chivayo died suddenly, including that relating to Sugar Sugar’s Toyota Fortuner.
He said the singer had been contacted to clarify the vehicle’s status and caution him against reselling it before the transaction was finalised.
“He was called just to alert him that the vehicle was still on pending sale and therefore he shouldn’t think of reselling,” Chipaga said.
The clarification comes amid speculation surrounding the status of vehicles Chivayo gifted to various individuals, with questions emerging over transactions that had not been fully settled at the time of his death.
Chipaga said the dealership was awaiting the appointment of an executor by the High Court to deal with matters relating to the deceased businessman’s estate.
The appointment is expected to provide a formal channel through which outstanding invoices and other related transactions can be addressed.
For now, the dealership’s position is that the matter remains pending, with Chipaga expressing confidence that an amicable resolution would be reached with the Chivayo family.
