Zimbabwe Political Storm: Apostle Java, Passion Java Deny Link to Explosive State Capture Audio

HARARE – Apostle B Java and his brother, Prophet Passion Java, have both distanced themselves from a circulating audio recording allegedly linking them to claims of state capture involving businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei.

Apostle B Java, in a video statement shared on social media, denied being one of the voices in the recording and rejected claims suggesting his involvement. He said he does not know the individuals heard in the audio and dismissed the allegations as attempts to drag his name into political disputes.

“I am not the person in that audio,” he reportedly stated, adding that he was being targeted in what he described as politically motivated attacks.

His brother, Prophet Passion Java, also issued a separate video response from his base in United States, distancing himself and the wider family from the recording. He said he had no knowledge of the voices in the audio and denied any association with the matter.

The audio in question has circulated widely on social media, triggering debate and speculation. It allegedly features discussions accusing Tagwirei of exerting influence over state institutions and harbouring political ambitions.

The businessman, a prominent figure with close ties to the country’s political leadership, has in the past faced similar allegations of undue influence in state affairs, which he has denied.

The latest developments have once again drawn religious figures into Zimbabwe’s increasingly volatile political discourse, where leaked recordings and factional accusations continue to surface online.

Analysts say the rapid circulation of such material reflects deepening political tensions and the growing role of social media in shaping narratives around succession politics and elite power struggles.

Both Apostles Java’s swift denials underscore the sensitivity surrounding the allegations, as public figures move quickly to contain reputational damage in an environment where audio leaks have become a recurring political weapon.
