Twelve survivors of the Kariba boat disaster remain admitted to hospital as health authorities continue monitoring their condition following the tragedy on Lake Kariba.

Kariba District Medical Officer Dr Godwin Muza confirmed the hospital admissions while giving an update on the condition of people rescued following the accident.

The latest medical update comes as authorities continue dealing with the aftermath of the disaster, which occurred after a boat carrying passengers capsized on Lake Kariba.

According to earlier police information, 11 people were confirmed dead while 75 others were rescued, with emergency teams mounting rescue and recovery operations following the incident.
