The 28th Kwekwe Sports, Arts and Culture Festival kicked off yesterday at Mbizo Stadium, marking a significant milestone in Midlands Province’s commitment to youth empowerment and community development. Honourable (Hon.) Owen Ncube, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, officially opened the festival, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talent and promoting positive values.
The festival’s theme, “Kick out the habit, adopt a healthy lifestyle. Stop drug and substance abuse,” resonates deeply with the province’s vision for a healthier, more productive society. Through sports, arts, and cultural activities, the event aims to provide a platform for youth to showcase their talents, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. Hon. Ncube stressed, “By investing in our youth, we are securing a brighter future for Midlands Province and Zimbabwe as a whole.”
The festival features an exciting lineup of events, including sports tournaments, art exhibitions, cultural performances, and drug and substance abuse awareness campaigns. Participants from across the province will compete in football, netball, and volleyball tournaments, while artists will showcase their work in painting, sculpture, and photography exhibitions. Cultural performances will include music, dance, and theater, celebrating the rich heritage of Zimbabwe.
“Organizers and stakeholders have worked tirelessly to ensure the festival’s success. This festival would not be possible without the dedication and passion of our organizers, participants, and partners. Together, we are building a vibrant, inclusive community that values creativity, diversity, and excellence.”Hon. Ncube commended their efforts.
The 28th Kwekwe Sports, Arts and Culture Festival is more than just an event – it’s a testament to Midlands Province’s commitment to empowering youth, enriching communities, and fostering a culture of excellence.
