Matebeleland South Province Embraces Development Through Devolution

In a significant stride towards development, Honorable Dr. Evelyne Ndlovu, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, commissioned four pivotal devolution projects in Ward 2 and Ward 14 of Umzingwane District in Matebeleland South Province. 

The projects, aimed at transforming the lives of residents, including the construction of the critical Mpisini Bridge, provision of a vital Grader for road maintenance, and establishment of two sustainable and affordable boarding facilities. 

“These projects demonstrate our commitment to devolution, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet local needs,” Dr. Ndlovu emphasized during the commissioning ceremony. 

The Mpisini Bridge will enhance transportation and connectivity, facilitating the movement of people and goods. The Grader will maintain roads, ensuring accessibility and promoting economic growth. 

The two boarding facilities will provide quality accommodation for students, promoting education and community development. 

“This is a momentous occasion for Umzingwane District, marking a new chapter in our development journey,” said a local resident, Sibonisiwe Ncube, while expressing gratitude to Dr. Ndlovu and the government.

The devolution projects align with Zimbabwe’s national development agenda, focusing on decentralized governance and community-driven initiatives. 

The commissioning of these devolution projects in Umzingwane District underscores the government’s dedication to fostering development and improving lives through community-centered initiatives.
