During a recent Q&A session at Mount Hampden Parliament, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Hon. F. Mhona, responded to a pressing inquiry posed by Hon. A.T. Mavunga, MP for Nketa Constituency. The Honorable Member had raised concerns about the deplorable state of the road from Nketa Drive to Plumtree Road, highlighting the Bulawayo City Council’s (BCC) prolonged neglect of maintenance responsibilities.

Minister Mhona acknowledged the BCC’s failure to upkeep the road over an extended period, precipitating the need for intervention. He reaffirmed that the road falls under the BCC’s jurisdiction but assured Hon. Mavunga that its rehabilitation is now a recognized priority.

The Minister announced that plans are underway for localized reconstruction in the next quarter, ensuring a long-term solution. In the interim, pothole patching will be undertaken as a palliative measure to alleviate motorist concerns.
