Nketa Turning into a Horticulture Hub

Honorable Member of Parliament for Nketa Constituency, Hon. A T Mavunga, paid a special visit to Nketa Secondary School to tour the school’s farming project. The project is a beneficiary of the Presidential School Business Units program, implemented through the Ministry of Agriculture, these projects aim to provide clean water, promote sustainable agriculture practices, and empower schools to become self-sustaining entities. 

In his remarks, Hon. MP Mavunga expressed his delight, stating, “We are thrilled to witness the realization of President Cde ED Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030. We will continue to be guided by our President’s vision, with the ultimate goal of transforming Nketa Constituency into a thriving horticulture hub.”

The Head of School also extended heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Zimbabwe for this initiative, highlighting the significant benefits accrued by the school. She add, “thanks to this program, we have successfully repaired 70 chairs and 30 desks. Vulnerable pupils are benefiting from this project, and we are also providing sanitary pads for the girl child.”

 Additionally, we distribute vegetables to them to take home.

Honourable MP A T Mavunga further acknowledged the President’s tireless efforts, noting that four out of seven schools in Nketa Constituency have already benefited from the Presidential School Business Units program. Production in the remaining schools is expected to commence soon. Nketa Secondary School has already made significant progress, with the successful planting of cabbages, carrots, and onions.
