No MONKEYPOX in Zimbabwe- GOVERNMENT

Government has come out and said they have no recorded cases of Monkeypox (Mpox) in Zimbabwe and people should not be in a state of alarm. “At the moment we have no recorded case of Mpox” said acting leader of government business, Hon Minister Felix Mhona.
This came out on Wednesday in Parliament during the question and answer session in the lower house of assembly. Question was asked by Honourable Vairet Nhari, women’s quota, Midlands Province following a fake press statement from Masvingo Province that was stating a case of Mpox in the province.
Minister was also asked whether government was prepared enough in case Mpox breaks out within our boarders. Minister responded by saying they were prepared to face any case or outbreak in the country. “The Ministry of health is prepared to fight the disease if it comes into the country” said Minister Mhona.
The leader of government business went further to state that the country and government is prepared and cautious having put the necessary measures at all ports of entry. Awareness campaigns have been ongoing since the outbreak of the disease was announced by the World Health Organization.
Ministry of health already put out a statement dispelling any rumors of Mpox infection Zimbabwe. A number of Members of Parliament were concerned about Mpox and asked relevant questions to ensure government is prepared for any outbreak. Mpox was declared a global health emergency in August by the World Health Organization (WHO).
