President ED Mnangagwa Hands Over 90 Vehicles to Chiefs

Harare, 25 September 2024 – In a ceremony held today, President ED Mnangagwa officially handed over 90 vehicles to traditional chiefs, reaffirming his commitment to enhancing their conditions of service. This initiative is part of the Second Republic’s grand plan to ensure chiefs can effectively carry out their programs.

The Second Republic has made significant strides in supporting traditional leaders, including:
✅ Medical Aid and Funeral Cover: Providing medical aid and funeral cover for chiefs and their families.
✅ Infrastructure Development: Constructing access roads to chiefs’ homes, implementing village programs, and electrifying traditional leaders’ residences.
✅ Capacity Building: Training chiefs as marriage officers and empowering them to issue birth and death certificates under the Marriage Act.
In light of the El Niño-induced drought, President Mnangagwa’s administration has launched Zunde Ramambo, a program aimed at ensuring no one succumbs to hunger. Chiefs play a vital role in food distribution, with 5tones of food already distributed in every ward.
Furthermore, the Presidential borehole scheme has seen the implementation of approximately 30,000 boreholes across the country.
President Mnangagwa assured the chiefs that his government will continue to improve their conditions of service, ensuring they remain dignified.
