Warriors to face Kenya & Cameroon

The Warriors are back in action against Kenya and Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations group stage qualifiers on Friday the 6th and 10th of September 2024. The matches will be played at the Nelson Mandela in pUganda because both Kenya and Zimbabwe do not have AFCON approved stadiums to host matches.
Zimbabwe warriors went into camp on Sunday with a new coach, Michael Nees, a German national. Zimbabwe face Kenya first and will not underestimate the Kenyans whom they have played with before. Zimbabwe lost their previous encounter with Kenya by 3 goals to 1.
The coach said he was pleased with the conditions in Uganda and was thankful for the facilities according to the ZIFA handle on X. “The conditions are extremely good. I’m sure this is one of the best training pitches in Africa” said Nees.
The players a quite optimistic and cautious at the same time as they prepared for the match. “We have a good enough team to qualify” said Tawanda Chirewa, a Zimbabwean International, on the sidelines of the teams practice on Wednesday.
Zimbabwe will face Kenya first before hosting Cameroon at the same stadium on the 10th of September. Online links will be shared by ZIFA for fans to watch the games live.
