UK -based Zimbabwean nurse, Set free Mafukidze, has embarked on a mission to raise awareness about diabetes in Zimbabwe and globally, leveraging digital platforms to reach a wider audience. With a passion for healthcare education and advocacy.His main aim is to bridge the knowledge gap and support those affected by the condition.

Mafukidze utilizes social media, blogs, and online forums to share informative content, personal stories, and expert insights on diabetes management and prevention.Zimbabweans in the diaspora and at home, as well as global communities, are benefiting from the campaign’s valuable resources and support. 

Speaking about his work, Mafukidze said, “I realized that many people back home in Zimbabwe lacked access to basic information about diabetes. By using social media, I can reach people directly, provide them with the information they need, and support them in making better health choices. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how a simple post can make a big difference in someone’s life.” 

For many Zimbabweans, Mafukidze has become a trusted source of information and a beacon of hope, demonstrating that with the right knowledge and support, diabetes can be managed effectively, and lives can be transformed 

 “As a nurse, I’ve seen the devastating effects of diabetes. I want to empower people with knowledge and hope, using digital platforms to reach those who need it most,” he added.

Diabetes  is often misunderstood and poorly managed due to a lack of awareness and access to medical information.Through his online presence, Mafukidze has reached many people who were previously unaware of the signs and symptoms of diabetes. His posts emphasize the importance of early detection, which can significantly improve outcomes and prevent complications. By providing clear, concise information on risk factors, symptoms, and management strategies, he has empowered many individuals to seek medical advice and testing.
