Indian firms to invest in Zimbabwean infrastructure

Indian Ambassador H. E Bramha Kumar paid a courtesy call on Vice President (V. P) General (Gen.) Retired (Rtd) Dr. C. G. D. N. Chiwenga at his Munhumutapa offices, this morning, in Harare. Increasing economic cooperation between the two countries was key in the agenda of the meeting.
V. P. Gen. (Rtd) Dr Chiwenga and Ambassador Mr Kumar today discussed ways for further strengthening the already strong and friendly relations between Zimbabwe and India.
In an interview with the Sunday Mail, Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr B. Kumar, revealed that “he is happy to note that the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe has shown interest to engage India for enhancing trade and commerce. Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Dr Constantino Chiwenga has been visiting India to participate in CII-Exim Bank Africa Conclave.”
The Ambassador added that the mission is encouraging Indian businesses to visit Zimbabwe to explore possibilities and new opportunities in trade and commerce. Departments and agencies concerning trade and commerce are working in this regard, he said.
Ambassador, said “I am sure of the full support of the Government of Zimbabwe for the new deals as well as for further expansion by Indian companies.
Recently, Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES), a government of India undertaking; Jindal Group; Varun Beverages; and PKG have announced new investments and expansions in Zimbabwe. This is a welcome news for Zimbabwe.
