Makoni South District Recovers from Devastating Hailstorm

Makoni South District in Manicaland, Zimbabwe, recently faced a devastating environmental disaster when a hailstorm destroyed 59 homes and 5 schools, leaving many without shelter or access to education. In response to this tragedy, Discovery Ambulance Service (DAS) sprang into action, providing medical support as part of an outreach program.

The DAS team joined forces with Honourable Nyakuyedzwa, Member of Parliament (MP) for Makoni South, at an all-stakeholder meeting in Rusape. Honourable Nyakuyedzwa welcomed DAS and outlined the objectives of the gathering, paving the way for a collaborative effort to support the affected communities. Generous donations were provided by DAS Group CEO and Founder, Mr. David Munowenyu, including free health services such as blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, health education, wellness support, consultations, and treatment.
 

Free Health Services: DAS provided essential medical care to those affected.

 Reconstruction Efforts: 100 bags of cement were donated to assist with rebuilding efforts.
 

Community Engagement: Honourable Nyakuyedzwa proposed a separate ceremony to officially present the cement donation, ensuring all stakeholders and DAS representatives are included. 

This initiative aligns with Vision 2030’s mission to leave no one and no place behind. The collaborative efforts of DAS, Honourable Nyakuyedzwa, and other stakeholders demonstrate a steadfast commitment to supporting affected communities and promoting sustainable development in Makoni South District.
