Ministry of ICT partners with NUST in Hosting Cyber Security Workshop

Government through the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services has teamed up with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) to host a crucial cybersecurity workshop. In today’s digital landscape, where cyber threats are on the rise.

The event, held on 30 October 2024, aimed to boost awareness and skills among students and professionals. Honorable Minister Dr. T. A. Mavetera graced the occasion, where students from NUST, Solusi University, and Great Zimbabwe University competed in an intense Cyber Security Quiz. 

NUST took top honors, with outstanding individuals receiving mobile phones and laptops. The Ministry also donated 18 desktops, three printers, and a laptop to the Jairos Jiri Association in Bulawayo. 

Hon. Minister Mavetera emphasized that, “as technology advances, cyber criminal tactics evolve, hence the need to hold such workshops in order to raise awareness and build a community dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity practices in Zimbabwe.” She further stressed the importance of academia-government collaboration in preparing future generations to tackle these challenges.
