VP Mohadi in Lesotho for Basotho and Bicentennial celebration festival

VICE President Colonel (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi arrived in Lesotho for the celebrations to hallmark 200 years since the Basotho nation was established by King Moshoeshoe I the event will be held at Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village. 

 

The epoch-making anniversary will be commemorated this Friday in Maseru. The Vice President was accompanied by the Acting Permanent Secretary in his office, Mr Milton Ndou as well as Director Mrs Samukeliso Musendame for this momentous event

The Minister of Gender, Youth, Sports, Arts, Culture and Social Development of Lesotho Mr. Pitso Lesaoana revealed during tma press briefing held in Maseru. 

He said, “the country will start with the Bicentennial celebration this month until October 2024 to mark 200 years since the formation of the Basotho nation by King Moshoeshoe I in 1824.

He said the celebration will be in different activities that identify Basotho, saying the Bicentennial celebration will be officiated by His Majesty during the Independence Day celebration on 4 October at Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village.

Vice President Mohadi was received by Zimbabwe envoy to South Africa and Lesotho Ambassador David Hamadziripi , Lesotho Minister of Resources Mr Molepi Molake and several senior government officials.

Vice President is representing President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the visit attests to the commitment between Harare and Maseru to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
