Zimbabwe kicked off their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier B campaign in impressive fashion, securing a convincing victory against Tanzania.

The hosts dominated the match from start to finish, with Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani delivering standout performances.

Bennett’s exceptional bowling figures of 4/10 restricted Tanzania to a modest total of 121 runs. His spell was marked by precision and variation, leaving the Tanzanian batsmen struggling to find rhythm.

Marumani then took center stage, unleashing a blistering 53-ball 72 to guide Zimbabwe to a comfortable eight-wicket win. His innings was punctuated by crisp boundaries and intelligent shot selection.

Zimbabwe’s victory sets the tone for their qualification journey, with upcoming matches against Nigeria, Mozambique, and Rwanda. The team’s convincing performance has boosted their chances of progressing to the next stage.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier B provides a platform for African teams to compete for a spot in the global tournament. Zimbabwe is well-placed to make a strong impression, given their experience and talent.

Bennett and Marumani’s outstanding displays have raised hopes of a successful campaign. Their contributions will be crucial in Zimbabwe’s quest to qualify for the T20 World Cup.
