Computer Society of Zimbabwe Summit in Victoria Falls

Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Postal & Courier Services, Honourable Tatenda Mavetera, the and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. B. Chirume attended the Annual Computer Society of Zimbabwe Summit in Victoria Falls, yesterday.
Attendees included the President of the ICT Society in Malawi, Representatives from Regional and International Computer and ICT Associations, and various players in the Technology space in Zimbabwe and beyond.
The Summit comes on the back of the Computer Society also celebrating its 50th anniversary. It is being held under the theme: “Navigating Digital Solutions for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” which seeks to inspire innovation, progress and reshape the industry. The conference seeks to “Ignite, innovate, thrive” the economy.
The Honourable Minister gave a keynote address today where she delineated the Government’s vision for digital transformation in Zimbabwe.
Hon. Mavetera spoke about the government’s initiatives to enhance internet connectivity across rural and urban areas, to promote local content development, and foster an environment conducive to innovation and investment in technology.
The summit covered issues related to cyber security challenges in Africa, strategies for increasing youth engagement in technology careers, and best practices for leveraging technology to drive economic growth.
