The Pfumvudza/ Intwasa training programme continues to gain widespread acceptance in Bulawayo. DCC 5 in conjunction with Agritex held a training in Nketa Constituency.
This training initiative has proven to be a game-changer, especially in drought-prone areas like Matebeland, by promoting sustainable farming practices and ensuring food security..
The training held today was attended by Nketa Member of Parliament (MP) Honourable A. T. Mavunga, Agricultural extension officers, ZANU-PF Provincial leadership, DCC 5 leadership and community members.
Nketa Constituency Member of Parliament Hon A. T. Mavunga thanked His Excellency, President Dr. E. D Mnangagwa for such a program which leaves no one behind towards Vision 2030. He added, “I thank the residence for attending the training and I urge them to continue supporting all Government programs.
Hon. Mavunga said he will make sure his constitnecy will get seeds on time as promised by His Excellency through the Presidential inputs scheme for the 2024-2025 season.
The DCC 5 Chairman Cde Nsingo also thanked all residents for attending the training program and beseeched with the Government Agricultural extension team to bring seeds on time.
According to data from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, and Rural Development, the Pfumvudza/Intwasa program has been implemented on 9.5 million plots across Zimbabwe, benefiting 3.5 million households.
This widespread adoption is a testament to the program’s success and the resilience of the farmers who have embraced it. The model will not only increase crop yields, but also reduce the cost of farming inputs.
If each household does Pfumvudza/Intwasa on at least one plot, we know that we will be food self-sufficient at the household level. In the spirit of the President of leaving no one and no place behind this program is open for everyone.
