Mutsvangwa: Mnangagwa and Chiwenga United by Shared History and Vision

ZANU-PF spokesperson Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa says President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, share a deep-rooted bond built over decades of shared struggle and leadership, and no force can drive a wedge between them.
In a statement released last night, Mutsvangwa emphasised that the two leaders remain focused on driving national development, which has already led to major improvements across key sectors, including transport and agriculture.
He pointed to the record-breaking 2025 tobacco harvest—exceeding 300 million kilograms—as proof of government-backed agricultural reforms under President Mnangagwa’s leadership.
“Smallholder farmers are expected to earn close to a billion US dollars this year,” he noted, adding that increased gold production, particularly by small-scale miners, also reflects the success of Mnangagwa’s progressive policies. These reforms, he said, have replaced the stagnation seen in the later years of Zimbabwe’s First Republic.
Mutsvangwa further credited the President for reviving national pride through the introduction of the ZiG currency, backed by gold reserves, which has helped curb past inflation challenges.
He highlighted the Manhize Dinson Iron and Steel plant as a milestone in modern industrial development that challenges negative narratives about Africa’s potential. Additionally, programmes like Pfumvudza/Intwasa have improved food security, led to wheat self-sufficiency, and supported a booming construction industry.
Reflecting on his personal experience, Mutsvangwa said he has known both Mnangagwa and Chiwenga for over 50 years. He described them as strong, resilient leaders who have overcome immense challenges together.
“Temporary disagreements have no place when comrades are focused on a greater mission. In battle, your comrade is your keeper,” he said.
