The Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sifiso Made, has expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his unwavering support towards the national rugby team, the Sables.

This follows a high-profile meeting at State House, where President Mnangagwa presented the team with a generous donation of US$100,000 to bolster their campaign in an upcoming international tournament.

The President also offered words of encouragement, urging the team to strive for excellence on the global stage.

In a statement, Mr. Made conveyed the team’s appreciation, saying, “On behalf of the Sables and the entire Zimbabwean rugby community, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, President Mnangagwa, for this incredible gesture. This support will go a long way in ensuring our players are well-prepared and motivated to represent Zimbabwe with pride.”

The Sables, who have been intensifying their preparations for the tournament, described the financial boost as a game-changer. The funds are expected to cover critical expenses, including training camps, equipment, and logistics.

The gesture has been widely celebrated on social media under the hashtag #SupportTheSables, with fans and sports enthusiasts commending the government’s commitment to developing rugby in Zimbabwe.

As the team gears up for the competition, the nation rallies behind them, hopeful that the President’s support will translate into a strong and inspiring performance on the international stage.
