President Mnangagwa Arrives in Malabo for Key African Union Meeting
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived at the Sipopo Conference Centre in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, where he joins fellow African leaders for the 7th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting.
The highly anticipated summit brings together heads of state, regional economic community leaders, and AU officials to discuss strategies for accelerating the continent’s integration agenda, strengthening economic cooperation, and promoting peace and security.
President Mnangagwa’s participation underscores Zimbabwe’s commitment to playing an active role in shaping Africa’s development priorities and advancing the objectives of Agenda 2063.
President Mnangagwa was warmly received by Equatorial Guinea officials and AU representatives. Delegates and observers noted an atmosphere of optimism and solidarity as leaders gathered to deliberate on key challenges and opportunities facing the continent.
This year’s meeting is expected to focus on regional trade integration, infrastructure development, food security, and climate resilience ,issues that are critical to sustainable growth and self-reliance across Africa.
Zimbabwe has recently intensified efforts to strengthen ties within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the broader African Union framework, emphasizing regional partnerships as a pillar of its foreign policy.
President Mnangagwa is scheduled to participate in several high-level discussions and is expected to engage in bilateral meetings with other heads of state on the sidelines of the summit.
The outcomes of the coordination meeting will help guide the AU’s ongoing efforts to streamline cooperation between member states and regional bodies, as Africa moves toward achieving greater unity and economic independence.
